About Switch Kit and Julian Beaumont
Practical, neutral guides for people who pay for software or cloud services and want to try a cheaper option without losing their work.
The author
Julian Beaumont is a former photographer, video journalist and marketing professional with 20 years of hands-on experience with creative and digital tools: cameras, editing suites, layout and office software, websites and, more recently, AI tools. He now works as a consultant.
How the guides are written
Each guide is built from official documentation, publishers' published terms and prices, project release notes and published reviews. Every fact is dated: the current editions were checked on 31 October 2026. Where a project rates its own maturity, the guides quote those figures as the developers' estimates, not as independent tests.
Neutrality
Commercial software such as Adobe's and Microsoft's is excellent and remains the right choice for many people. The guides present alternatives as options, never as verdicts, and include an honest “better to wait if” section on every page.
Trademarks
Switch Kit is independent and is not authorised, endorsed or sponsored by any company or project it mentions. Product names are used only to identify the software concerned. No logos are used.
Updates
Software changes fast. When a version, price or rule changes, the page and the guide are updated and the date above changes. Buyers of the Complete Collection receive updated editions for 12 months.
